Summer Must Haves

I think summer has officially made it to the lovely state of Michigan!  However, according to the weather it may not last long.  *Super sad face*  While we are loving the heat that has finally made it to us, we need to make sure that we are protecting our skin.  We can still have fun in the sun but we need to make sure we are being smart about it.  Glotherapeutics has options to help keep our skin lovely and protected.
Broad spectrum, water resistant protection with an oil free formula that quickly adheres to wet or damp skin.

Broad spectrum protection with nourishing hydrators and antioxidants.  Lightweight formula won't leave the skin feeling oily.

Moisturizers and peptides lend anti-aging benefits while providing protection from the sun.

Broad spectrum powder (yes powder!) bronzer.  Add this small brush to your bag for quick sun protection with a little color.  Offers a medium to full coverage with a dewy finish.

Hydration Mist is not only great for setting your glominerals makeup but it's a perfect addition to your beach bag.  Hydration Mist offers instant hydration to dry skin.  I use this throughout the day at the beach or water park.  Keeping your skin hydrated will help protect against burning.  *This product DOES NOT prevent any burning*

Refreshing Mist offers the same benefits as Hydration Mist with the added benefits of Pomegranate.

Remember to keep your skin healthy and beautiful!

Does your skin care measure up?

I am a person who has suffered with acne since I was 12.  I have tried everything that I could get my hands on but my skin would dry out, get worse or not change at all.  I was still willing to try anything but I had basically given up.  Then, three years ago I started working with gloprofessional products.  I have never been so happy with a skin care line (& makeup line)!  Have you wanted a skin care regimen that actually did what you wanted???  This is seriously the skin care you need!!  Glotherapeutics has changed my skin as well as my clients skin.
Is good skin care really that important?  Yes it is!  Having a good skin care regimen is not only important for healthy skin but is also important for makeup application.  That's right, having healthy skin is important for optimal makeup application.
What makes glotherapeutics so special?  Because it is! LOL  This is by far the first skin care line that has truly done what is says it will.  My skin has been transformed.  I suffer from acne and dry skin.  I can customize my products to not only take care of the acne but also combat the dryness.  I have never been able to achieve this!
What products would I recommend?  I would recommend a cleanser, toner, Vitamin C serum, hydrator/moisturizer, eye cream for an AM regimen.  For a PM regimen I would recommend a cleanser, toner, exfoliator (2-3 times per week), treatment mask (2-3 times per week), retinol based serum (2-7 times per week), hydrator/moisturizer (if needed), eye cream.

These are some the Best Sellers from glo.  I use the Renew Serum (PM regimen) and Eye Restore (AM regimen) and Oil Free Moisturizer in the winter to help with my dry skin without clogging my pores.
Retinol based serums are amazing products to use!  It is best to use at night and you do need to be careful with sun exposure.  Why a retinol?  Retinol helps your skin to naturally exfoliate to reveal naturally beautiful skin.  Using a retinol will increase the benefits of using an exfoliator.
Is Vitamin C really that important?  From personal experience I can declare yes!  I have done experiments using the Vitamin C and can always tell when I am not using it.  My skin becomes dull and lifeless.  And, yes, my makeup looks better when I'm using Vitamin C too.
Hyaluronic Acid is great for everyone!  Everyone needs hydration and Hyaluronic Acid helps your skin maintain it's water to increase hydration.
If I had my way everyone I know would be using these products!  I would like to offer anyone who reads this blog a consultation and, if possible, to try a few products.  Please contact me via my Facebook Alexa Leach Makeup or email alexaleach.mua@gmail.com.  I have no doubt that you will love these products as much as I do!

Swirl, Fling, Winterfest........

Call it what you will, either way the girls are asking the boys to a formal dance to celebrate Valentine's Day!

This past Saturday I had the privilege of providing hair and makeup services to Alysa, a sophomore at Forest Hills Central.  She wanted something that was, as I call it, Enhanced Everyday.  We did a copper smokey eye to bring out her beautiful blue eyes and bigger curls than her natural curly hair.

She was willing to brave the cold for a few outside pics
Her friends loved the looser curls!

I know it's a few months late, but my super cute muse, Laurie, went to Homecoming last October and asked me to do her hair and makeup.  She wanted dramatic eyes (very opposite from her everyday look) and a smooth, sleek pony.

Happy 2013! 2012 In Review

Happy 2013!!!!  Am I the only one who thought 2012 went by quickly??

Summer 2012 was such a blast for me!  I had some very amazing projects I was able to be a part of.

In July, I was able to participate in Spotlight 616's Fashion Force Challenge.  This competition was a prelude to Style Battle in September and aimed at the up and coming fashion designers.  FFC was my first live competition.  Each Makeup Artist was teamed with a Hairstylist, model and designer.  It was intense and beyond exciting.  I can't wait to do it again this year.  You can read more about FFC (as well as my bio!) at http://spotlight616.com/apffc.  To see pictures from that night (taken by my awesome father) on my Facebook page Alexa Leach Makeup in the album Fashion Force Challenge 2012.

In August, my beautiful friend Kayla was married.  It was such a pleasure to spend time with her.  She already is a beautiful person which made my job even easier.  Everything about her wedding was stunning!  Thank you again for inviting me!!

Also in August, I was able to be a part of Rooftop Couture.  This was an event that showcased Michigan designers.  The fashion show was on the top level of a parking ramp in downtown Grand Rapids.  The backdrop of the all the buildings at sunset and lit up at night was breathtaking!

In September, I had the privilege of working with an old co-worker for her wedding.  The bridal party, as well as the bride, were so chill and relaxed.  It was so much fun to watch her get ready.  It was an absolute delight!  Congratulations again!
P.S. I can't wait for The Mane Event 2013!!!

November brought a couple fun things.  First was The Mane Event 2012.  Last year I worked with Ashley doing the makeup.  This year, however, I did the hair as well!  It was a different experience doing the hair too but so much fun!  I can't wait to do it again this year!
(Blog post to follow)

Also, in November, I started at BANG Blowdry Bar!  I worked with the owner at Rooftop and when it was time for me to get back into the salon industry I figured, what better place!  It's a super cute salon in downtown Grand Rapids with a new concept for our growing city.  We are a blowdry bar and salon (yep, I'm doing hair).  I will still be doing makeup but what's a Makeup Artist if she can't style a little hair? ;0)

That's 2012 in a nutshell!  I am still updating my Facebook page so pictures will be posted shortly.  Check back often for more exciting things.  2013 is going to be a great year for Alexa Leach Makeup!!

A Little Update

It has been quite some time since I have posted.  A lot of things have changed for Alexa Leach Makeup.  First, I am no longer with The J Salon so my time with makeup has greatly diminished.  Second, I am slowly trying to get my foot out there to be able to do what I love as a career.  I don't know how soon that will be but I am working towards it.

Since my last post I was able to work with Dionel on a boudoir shoot.  Our model was stunning and the pictures were just beautiful.  I couldn't have asked for a better experience (or people to work with)!!!!

I have recently posted on my Facebook page, Alexa Leach Makeup, new pictures.  I had wanted to try creating a "Sugar Skull" for some time and one day decided it was time.  Although, it's not my best work, I am pretty proud of it.

Here's a small preview of my sugar skull

Big thanks to my model, Britney!  She's always a blast to work with!!!

Keep an eye out for pictures and stay fabulous!

Exciting Things Are Coming

These next couple months are very exciting for me.  Not only are the holidays coming up but I've been offered a couple great opportunities.

I'm super excited to be working with Dionel of Dionel Photography again.  She has a boudoir shoot coming up and she contacted me to do the makeup.  We've got a fun and flirty concept we're putting together and I can't wait to see the final outcome!

I also have the opportunity to work with Riese LauriatShe is a spectacular makeup artist and I couldn't be more stoked to be assisting her!  I don't know what she has in store but I can't wait!!

Thank you ladies, again, for allowing me to be apart of what you love to do!  I feel very blessed!

Rogers Jewelers November Feature

Big thanks to Katie for once again allowing me to do what I love!  To say I love this girl would be an understatement.  Katie has become one of my good friends and one of my favorites to do makeup on.  She's a double whammy; beautiful on the outside and stunning on the inside (try to hate her, it's impossible!)!

We did a shoot with Rogers Jewelers for their November product feature.  This is a preview of what we did.  I should have the rest on my Facebook Alexa Leach MUA in a couple weeks.

 Stay fabulous!
